DC experience
With an extensive range of components for direct and alternating voltage, Astrolkwx provides solutions for power electronics related challenges. We specialize in co-creating customer specific solutions that find their application in DC networks.
Due to several innovations on this particular field our market position as innovative supplier and specialist in DC solutions will be further expanded throughout the years.
Catalogue products and customized solutions
In addition to catalogue products such as high-speed fuses, diodes, GTOs, IGBTs, IGCTs and other semiconductors we excel in co-creating customized solutions. These can be custom components such as heatsinks, high power resistors, (liquid cooled) rectifiers or solid-state AC and DC breakers. In consultation with the customer, our specialists advise the right solution and based on the requested specifications we proceed to design and production.
The in-depth technical experience in combination with our strong and extensive network enables us to provide our customers with customized solutions in almost every area of power electronics. Our products and solutions mainly find their application in the maritime, industrial and transport sector.
History / Timeline
- 2002 KWx was founded by Joop van Essen and Michel Paardekoper
- 2003 The ABB divisions, Measurement instruments, Calibration laboratory and Power Electronics were acquired
- 2007 Hans Segers appointed as Managing Director
- 2014 KWx moved to newly built office and warehouse at the Aston Martinlaan 41 in Oud Beijerland
- 2015 Hanzestrohm acquired KWx
- 2017 Hans Segers retired
- 2019 Jeroen Visser appointed as Managing Director
- 2019 DNV-GL certification of the range of 0.5 kA – 3 kA 1kV DC breaker switches
- 2023 KWx Power Electronics was acquired by Astrol Electronic AG
- 2023 KWx became Astrolkwx
